This is an 11-month work year position and will be on unpaid time off for approximately four (4) weeks each academic year. The dates will vary each academic year and may fluctuate based on business needs.
PurposeTo assist healthcare professionals with the delivery of patient care services and to perform clinical skills as ordered by medical provider.
Responsibilities- Assists with the evaluation and care of patients to be seen by UHS providers.
- Performs procedures and treatments such as intake assessments, EKGs, peak flows, vision testing, nebulizer therapy, ear irrigations, wound care, application of orthopedic devices, crutch teaching and cleaning/stocking of exam rooms.
- Exhibits customer service-oriented behavior and excellent public relations skills.
- Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern.
- Maintains a level of knowledge conducive to providing high quality patient care.
- Actively participates in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Other related functions as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or CCMA).
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Experience using electronic medical records.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- More than one year of experience using electronic medical records.
- More than one year of experience in an ambulatory, outpatient or urgent care clinic, emergency room, or college health setting.
- Demonstrated good communication skills, interpersonal skills, team-building skills, and professional demeanor.
$3,633.17 per month (See General Notes. This position is 11-months.)

- Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in offices, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance
- Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm. Hours may fluctuate based on business needs.

Retirement Plan EligibilityThe retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
