Position: Banquet Captain | Full-Time

Overview

Hotel Magdalena is looking for a Banquet Captain who will be responsible for providing the Food & Beverage (F&B) Department with administrative and operational support as well as assisting the Events Department with leads, contracts, and execution. The person in this role will provide a personable, unique, and indulgent guest experience for event inquiries that ensures the highest standards of quality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED). College Degree preferred
  • Two (2) years related experience in hospitality events or events industry
  • Ability to prioritize and organize
  • Ability to work independently using good judgment
  • Ability to perform job functions given changing schedule requirements (late nights, to early morning) with consistent attention to detail, speed and accuracy under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold) under variable noise levels and both outdoors or indoors based on qualifications, merit, and business need.
Job Requirements
  • Oversee banquet function activities to meet the expectations of client and hotel standards in terms of appearance, set-up, service, and food quality.
  • Coach servers, bartenders, and bussers through daily functions to train, retrain, ensure and maintain meeting the expectations of client and hotel standards in terms of appearance, set-up, service and food quality.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of/comply with and enforce all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Reviewing the BEO (Banquet Execution Order) before each event with the sales team.
  • Pull and return liquor, beer, and wine for all events and complete consumption sheet for sales team.
  • Ability to write and provide event staff with a Run of Show for every event detailing all pertinent information prior to the event.
  • Communicates with Chef and kitchen staff to coordinate timing needs for all food/ client requests.
  • Walk through the event space, ensuring all equipment are operational and to report any issues with the space or equipment to the appropriate department
  • Meet and keep constant communication with the client, resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction when needed.
  • Oversees the closing of the event, ensuring all proper closing procedures are executed
  • Completes all closing reports at the conclusion of each event
  • Attend relevant meetings
Working Conditions/Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting
  • The person in this position may have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
