ResponsibilitiesThe Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing overnight front office operations while completing day-end accounting and audit functions. This role ensures guest safety, satisfaction, and accurate financial reporting by reconciling daily transactions, preparing management reports, and supporting overnight guest needs. The Night Auditor works independently with strong attention to detail, professionalism, and a calm, service‑oriented approach.
- Perform nightly audit procedures to balance and reconcile daily revenue, guest ledger activity, and accounts receivable.
- Verify and reconcile all room charges, payments, postings, and adjustments to ensure accuracy of daily financial transactions.
- Prepare and distribute daily management and financial reports in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Complete system backups, roll the business date, and update front office systems following established guidelines.
- Reconcile miscellaneous revenue sources and investigate discrepancies, making appropriate corrections as needed.
- Monitor overnight front desk operations, ensuring consistent guest service and adherence to brand standards.
- Welcome, assist, and respond to guest inquiries, requests, or concerns in a courteous and professional manner during overnight hours.
- Ensure guest safety and security overnight, reporting any unusual activity or incidents to management or security as required.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of overnight activity, incidents, and guest interactions.
- Communicate clearly with morning leadership and front office teams to ensure smooth operational handover.
- Work independently while remaining responsive to guest and operational needs throughout the shift.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to work overnight shifts and remain alert and focused throughout the entire shift.
- Previous Front Office, Night Audit, or Accounting experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for numbers and reconciliation accuracy.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications; PMS experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Calm, professional demeanor with strong guest service skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as required.
- University or college degree in Hospitality, Accounting, or a related field is an asset.
