Who You Are

The In2

America HR & Payroll Specialist is a client-facing HR and payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-led environment. You act as a trusted point of contact for our clients and their employees, delivering practical, compliant, and solutions-oriented support across HR, payroll, tax, benefits, and compliance.

You understand that in an employee leasing environment, precision and responsiveness matter. You are comfortable working across multiple US states, navigating varying wage, leave, pay, and compliance requirements while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

You bring prior HR and payroll experience and are confident supporting distributed work forces in a multi-state setting. Familiarity with PEO, EOR, or outsourced HR models is highly valued.

What You’ll Do

HR

  • Use policy manuals, knowledgebase and other reference materials to assist in answering employee/client HR, benefits and policy-related questions.
  • Draft and update employee handbooks and policies for clients across multiple states.
  • Generate and issue employment documents, such as offer letters and agreements.
  • Handle inquiries about 401(k) enrollment and changes.
  • Support health plan administration, broker integration and carrier coordination.
  • Escalate matters internally as needed (including employee relations, employee complaints, and terminations).

Payroll

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls across multiple clients and a distributed, multi-state employee base (100+ permanent and temporary workers).
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of non-exempt and temporary worker timesheets.
  • Be the direct go-to-person for all payroll matters, including with holdings, deductions, garnishments, direct deposit, W-4 updates, FSA/HSA, and benefits-related deductions.
  • Support multi-state payroll tax compliance, including SUI setup, jurisdictional updates, and escalation of complex tax inquiries.
  • Generate for approval and issue client invoices, payroll previews, and charge reports and assist in maintaining internal processes and calculations for invoicing.
  • Support with 401(k) and workers’ compensation uploads and annual audit compliance.

Compliance

  • Assist with onboarding new hires and offboarding terminations, including necessary paperwork, such as I9 verification, final paycheck, COBRA and notices.
  • Conduct regular employment-related audits to ensure governance with internal processes or compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Respond to government agency inquiries and coordinate responses, including unemployment claims, wage inquiries, agency audits.
  • Track, record, and submit required employment-related reports to government agencies, including SUI, EEOC, OSHA, FLSA, ACA etc.
  • Support workers’ compensation admin, including endorsements, COIs and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements (including safety, prevailing wage, and insurance).

Client Implementation

  • Support onboarding and implementation of new client accounts.
  • Configure and maintain HRIS systems for new and existing clients.
  • Participate in client discovery sessions to assess payroll, compliance, and HR requirements.
  • Train clients and employees on HRIS tools, including payroll access, time tracking, tax forms, expense management.
