Purpose

Seeking a candidate with a strong background in Talent Acquisition and an enthusiasm for the candidate experience to be an integral part of the ARL HR Operations department of the Applied Research Laboratories. The ARL HR Operations department (HRO) operates in collaboration with the ARL HR Strategies department (HRS), and both departments report to ARL's Assistant Director, HR Programs and Strategic Communications.

Applied Research Laboratories is a DoD University Affiliated Research Center at The University of Texas  are located on the Pickle Research Campus in North Austin, and our Executive Director reports to the Vice President for Research. Through fundamental research, innovative science, and applied engineering, ARL:

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to determine criteria for sourcing that will result in a group of highly qualified prospects for available positions. Develop and utilize engagement methods to encourage prospects' interest in applying for ARL positions posted via Workday, the UT Austin official applicant tracking system. Advise ARL managers on best practices for recruiting, interviewing, and selection. Work in collaboration with ARL HRS to develop and conduct in-person training sessions for all of these areas.
  • Review and draft job requisitions in Workday for all ARL labs/service area staff and student positions. Discuss and review drafts with hiring managers based on both UT Workday job catalog profiles and specific internal ARL requirements for positions. Submit drafts to HRO Manager as well as the hiring manager and lab/service area director for final review and approval. Responsible for all pre‑hire Workday actions related to job requisitions, which can include changes in the posting itself, posting/unposting the position, closing and canceling the job requisition and dispositioning applicant status at the conclusion of the recruiting effort.

    Develop a thorough understanding of the entire UT Austin Workday candidate database.
  • Routinely travel for recruiting events, including networking and professional events such as meetings of research‑related organizations in ARL science and engineering fields of practice. Coordinate and participate in university career fairs; periodically participate in military veteran recruiting and career fairs in collaboration with other HRO staff. Consistently maintain ARL's presence on sourcing websites, such as Indeed and Linked In; advertise via university organizations, career centers, and other venues to provide advance information for recruiting fairs.
  • Research market trends and developments in the field of talent acquisition and relevant sourcing platforms via consistent monitoring and networking with peer talent acquisition professionals. Present comparisons and recommend products for projected highest return on investment (ROI) based on thorough knowledge of sourcing platforms and ARL's current and estimated future staffing needs. Provide relevant data to consistently record and measure ROI and collaborate on developing and analyzing metrics for leadership review and strategic planning.

    Provide timely reports regarding all Workday recruiting activity to HRO Manager, including but not limited to number of new positions posted; position aging; interview activity and other relevant data. Develop tracking mechanism for sourcing activity and documenting discussions with hiring managers regarding requirements for each position.
  • Develop and maintain recruiting support from research laboratories and support areas, and from fellow HRO and HRS staff.
