Purpose

The Training Specialist II supports the design, delivery, coordination, and administration of employee development and engagement initiatives within University Housing and Dining (UHD). Working closely with the Senior Training Coordinator and Senior Training Specialist, this role helps ensure employees have access to clear, effective, and well-organized learning experiences that support onboarding, skill development, and workplace expectations. This position plays a key operational role within the Employee Development and Engagement (EDE) team and provides hands‑on support for training facilitation, logistics, and learning management system administration.

Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and manage training events, sessions, and curricula in UTLearn (Cornerstone). Maintain accurate training rosters by enrolling participants, uploading attendance records, and updating completion status. Update employee training transcripts and support manager requests for transcript and completion information. Monitor training completion using UTLearn and the internal compliance dashboard to support department‑wide training compliance. Assist with tracking required training and identifying follow‑up needs related to incomplete or overdue training.

    Support supervisors and departments with questions related to training assignments, completion status, and records. Collaborate with the Senior Training Specialist and Senior Training Coordinator to ensure training data is accurate, timely, and aligned with established compliance and reporting processes.
  • Support the design, development, creation, and facilitation of training content and learning experiences, in collaboration with Senior Training Specialists and subject matter experts. Develop training materials and resources (slide decks, activities, job aids) based on established learning objectives and guidance from senior staff. Co‑facilitate portions of New Employee Orientation (NEO), Supervisor Orientation, and other EDE training programs. Assist with maintaining, updating, and organizing training materials, presentations, toolkits, and participant resources.

    Support bilingual training environments, including assisting with Spanish‑language facilitation or translation as skills allow.
  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions and events, including scheduling, room reservations, materials, set‑up and breakdown, catering, and A/V needs. Prepare and organize training supplies and materials; assist with loading and unloading materials for events. Track attendance and assist with post‑session follow‑up and documentation. Coordinate training logistics and communications, including scheduling, participant communications, and ongoing updates to training calendars and resources.
  • Support Employee Development and Engagement initiatives that strengthen employee connection, communication, and recognition. Serve as an active member of the UHD CARE Committee and assist with planning and executing employee engagement and appreciation events. Support wellness, adult education, and other department‑wide programming as needed.
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of EDE communications such as training calendars, flyers, and internal resources. Support the development and maintenance of training documentation, workbooks, and basic procedural materials. Assist with Spanish translation of training materials when possible and coordinate with external translation services as needed. Provide customer service to employees and visitors. Support the HR team during peak periods as a backup.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, organizational development, human resources, communications, or a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting, delivering, and/or coordinating training, learning, and/or professional development initiatives.
