Forward-Deployed Engineer

We’re hiring a Forward-deployed Engineer to work at the boundary between our customers and our product. This is a highly cross-functional role combining software engineering, customer engagement, and product development.

In this role, you will work closely with our customers to understand their real-world challenges and rapidly translate those needs into software, acting as a technical partner to customers while helping shape Statt’s core platform. You will spend significant time in direct conversations with public policy professionals, understanding their workflows and constraints, and then translating those insights into software customizations, feature additions, and product improvements.

• Engage directly with customers—especially public policy professionals—to understand their goals, workflows, and technical constraints.
• Design and implement software customizations, integrations, and new features to meet customer needs.
• Rapidly prototype, iterate, and deploy solutions based on real-world feedback.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering to turn customer insights into scalable platform features.
• Own projects end-to-end, from customer conversation to production deployment.
• Help define best practices for forward-deployed engineering at Statt as we scale.

• 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience interfacing directly with customers or stakeholders in a technical capacity
• Strong proficiency in Python or comparable languages and familiarity with Typescript
• Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases
• Familiarity with modern software development tooling, including Git Hub (or equivalent version control workflows)
• Experience deploying or maintaining applications on cloud hosting platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)
• Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into concrete technical solutions
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with non-technical users

• Experience working with or building SaaS products
• Exposure to public policy, government, or regulated domains
• Experience building data-driven or analytics-heavy applications
• Comfort working in early-stage or fast-moving startup environments

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
