ResponsibilitiesThe Work
The IT Procurement Technician will play a crucial role in sourcing technology products and services, negotiating agreements with vendors, and ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment to meet organizational needs. This position demands a strong understanding of current business trends, government regulations, software licensing practices, and modern procurement techniques to secure optimal pricing and delivery terms.
This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Research & Vendor Identification: Maintain an in-depth understanding of business trends, government regulations, and market dynamics to identify and evaluate qualified manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers for IT products and services.
- Software and Licensing Expertise: Stay current on software licensing practices to support organizational compliance and effective technology acquisitions.
- Vendor Negotiation: Leverage advanced negotiation skills and pricing strategies to secure favorable terms, cost savings, and optimal delivery schedules from vendors and manufacturers.
- Order Fulfillment Management: Coordinate purchase orders and ensure order fulfillment with vendors, monitoring the procurement process to meet organizational timelines and requirements.
- Contract Oversight: Collaborate with legal, finance, and IT departments to draft, review, and finalize procurement contracts in compliance with government and corporate policies.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct pricing evaluations, cost-benefit analyses, and comparisons to identify the most cost-effective options without compromising quality or requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain knowledge of applicable government regulations and ensure procurement practices are aligned with compliance requirements.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers to facilitate effective communication, resolve issues, and ensure long-term procurement efficiencies.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities and provide regular reports to management, summarizing cost savings, performance metrics, and compliance adherence.

- Level 1: 1-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD), or Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) credentials a plus.
- Level 2: 4-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD), or Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) credentials a plus.
