Brief

Job Description:

This position is hybrid, two in-office days per week in Austin. Applicants from outside Texas must be willing to relocate within 30 days of hire.

• Data Analysis and Visualization – Compiles, queries, and loads data points using SQL and other query languages into databases from various source formats to support complex analyses. Cleans and prepares data for access by other analysts and for data visualization. Provides guidance and mentorship on data use and best practices to analysts throughout the department. (20%)
• Data Quality – Establishes and updates data quality metrics, recommends and implements improvements, ensures data integrity by identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies; coordinates with stakeholders to improve data quality. Interprets results to identify significant differences in data. (20%)
• Reporting – Oversees development of high-quality written projects and reports; guides the selection of data management tools, standards, usage guidelines, and procedures. Defines, develops, and implements data standards. Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data; makes recommendations on revisions to data collection methodologies. Develops software applications or programming for financial analysis, statistical modeling, and graphic analysis. (5%)
• Coordination – Explains PFD and Data Integration business processes; negotiates for information and resources; coordinates with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of reporting tools, workflows, and procedures. (20%)
• Process Improvement – Provides feedback to improve data collection and align data infrastructure with business needs; recommends improvements to efficiency and quality of data and reporting processes; provides routine project status updates. (20%)
• Infrastructure Support – Oversees, plans, directs and monitors key analytic functions related to day-to-day activities of the Data Integration & PFD; performs quality assurance and acts as subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation. (10%)
• Other – Performs other work as assigned to maintain HHSC operations. (5%)

• Knowledge – Data analysis techniques, data quality and integrity processes, database and application design concepts.
• Skills – Complex analytic work, identifying trends, recommending improvements; proficiency with SQL, SAS, SPSS, Python and other query languages; experience with Extract, Transform, Load tools.
