Overview
Job Description:
The Opportunity For nearly a decade, Intel's Neuromorphic Computing Lab—together with a global ecosystem of 250+ research groups—has explored architectures, algorithms, and software inspired by the brain's efficiency and adaptability. Our Loihi series of research chips pioneered event-driven, sparse, and massively parallel neuro-inspired processing, powering over 100 peer-reviewed publications. We are transforming these breakthroughs into real-world products for physical AI systems.
If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of computing, join us to define the next wave of AI technology that leverages Intel's neuromorphic computing technology with modern AI workloads.
Position Overview:
We are growing our systems team and seeking an experienced systems software engineer to develop the runtime framework for our next generation neuromorphic systems. You will enable user-compiled models from higher-level application layers to run efficiently on Loihi-based platforms and collaborate with the software team to define abstractions required to run, debug and validate these models on the hardware. Candidates should be open to learning standard and custom interfaces (like Ethernet, MIPI) used in silicon to transact data.
- Develop and test operating system components and runtime features for Intel's future neuromorphic products and evaluation platforms.
- Support bring-up, debug, and validation of prototype chips and platforms.
- Implement performance tuning and scaling of customer workloads.
- Develop automated test and validation frameworks for seamless deployment of Loihi systems and software to end customers.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelors & 4+ years or Masters & 3+ years in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in run-time software development and system-level programming.
- 2+ years of experience in performance optimizations and/or scaling software to large scale systems.
- 2+ years of experience in C/C++ and scripting.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with LLVM and MLIR.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (e.g., Zephyr RTOS).
- Familiarity with Ethernet protocols.
