Data Scientist - Computer Vision, Data & Machine Learning (DML)

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.

Join a sizeable team of data scientists, research scientists, and machine learning engineers that develop computer vision models on overhead imagery for a high‑impact government customer. We own the entire machine learning development lifecycle, from data exploration to model deployment.

• Explore and prioritize ideas for computer vision model development on overhead imagery.
• Implement new features into the Python code base.
• Train deep neural network models and support experimental or performance goals.
• Test, evaluate, package, and deliver models to the customer.
• Develop and implement hyper‑parameter optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with teammates on long‑term strategy and short‑medium‑term implementation.
• Contribute to presentations to the customer regarding the team’s work.

• Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL, Python, or statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, MATLAB).
• 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling and data analysis techniques.
• Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Sage Maker, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, and EC2.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

• Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem‑solving.
• Experience in an ML or data scientist role with a large technology company.
• Experience working on multi‑team, cross‑disciplinary projects.
• Master's degree or above in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or related fields.
• Experience in Linux, PyTorch, and Git workflows for MLOps.

Base salary range: USA, VA – Arlington: $136,000 – $184,000 annually;
Herndon: $136,000 – $184,000 annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
