Desktop Support Specialist, Business and Technology Services, Moody College of Communications
Position OverviewThis entry‑level position provides computer desktop end‑user support for patrons of the Moody College of Communications. The employee will respond to requests and problems, install, monitor, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade PC hardware, software, and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
Responsibilities- Assist in development, implementation, and enforcement of Moody College IT policies; interpret UT System and Campus policies as needed.
- Install, monitor, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade personal computer hardware, software, and equipment.
- Maintain thorough documentation using the online ticketing system and wikis.
- Occasionally participate in specific technology research, development, and deployment projects.
- Provide first‑tier support for VoIP telephone troubleshooting and requests for service.
- Provide first‑tier technical support for Moody College classroom AV, particularly early‑morning classes.
- Support the Technology Team and Helpdesk, collaborate with non‑Helpdesk techs and University techs, and provide purchasing recommendations.
- Answer the Help Desk line and handle voicemail and email inquiries as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some experience providing end‑user help desk support in a managed endpoint environment for Windows, macOS, iOS, and tvOS devices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback.
- Detail oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must work well in a team environment and collaborate on work activity.
- More than one year of experience.
- A+ Microsoft or Apple certifications.
$45,000
Working Conditions- Standard office conditions in shared windowless space.
