SummaryUnder the supervision of the Supervisor of Information Technology, the Web Administrator performs routine (journey-level) web design and development work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This role is responsible for the development, maintenance, accessibility, security, and overall performance of the School’s website. The Web Administrator ensures that all online content is accurate, compliant with state and federal requirements, user‑friendly, and aligned with the School’s communication goals.
The position collaborates with departments and leadership to support effective communication with families, staff, and the community.
- Manage the School’s website structure, navigation, and content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and ease of use.
- Maintain consistent branding, layout, and design across all School and department web pages.
- Perform regular audits to identify outdated content, broken links, accessibility issues, and security vulnerabilities.
- Oversee hosting, website management, SSL certificates, and platform updates.
- Serve as Electronic Information Resources Accessibility Coordinator (EIRAC) for the campus.
- Create, edit, and publish web content including announcements, calendars, forms, and multimedia.
- Support campus and department web editors with training, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure timely posting of required public notices (board agendas, accountability reports, policy updates, weather closures).
- Ensure all web content meets ADA accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal requirements for public school websites (e.g., TEA-required postings, ESSA, SPED notices, financial transparency).
- Conduct periodic accessibility scans and coordinate remediation efforts.
- Monitor analytics to evaluate site performance, user behavior, and content effectiveness.
- Work closely with Communications, Technology, and campus leadership to support School initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for website-related issues and requests.
- Provide guidance on digital communication best practices.
- Participate in the campus Social Media Taskforce.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Information Technology, Communications, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing websites using a CMS (e.g., Edlio, Blackboard, Finalsite, School Messenger, Word Press).
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical staff.
- Sign Language: INTERMEDIATE proficiency required. If hired with a lower proficiency, participation in signed communication learning opportunities is required until proficiency is achieved.
- Experience working in a K–12 school setting.
- Fluency with programming languages including HTML, XML, Java, and CSS.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite, and Mac iWork.
- Experience with graphic design, digital media, or content strategy.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations applicable to schools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Web Technologies: Extensive knowledge of internet protocols, web server administration (e.g., Apache, IIS, Nginx), and content management systems (CMS) like Word Press or SharePoint.
