OVIP Internship – Veterans and Military Spouses
The Oracle Veteran Internship Program (OVIP) sponsors a paid internship that exposes transitioning military veterans and active‑duty military spouses to corporate culture, hands‑on job‑skill training, and professional development. Interns will work closely with corporate leadership, veteran coaches, and HR to prepare for a successful transition into a career in the private or public sector.
Hourly wage: $30 per hour; 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Support the design, deployment, and operations of a large‑scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), focusing on network fabric and systems.
- Participate in the network solution and architecture design process.
- Participate in operational support rotations as primary and secondary.
- Provide break‑fix support for events and serve as the escalation point for event remediation.
- Lead post‑event root cause analysis.
- Join major event/incident calls, use technical and analytical skills to resolve network issues that impact Oracle customers/services.
- Handle fault identification and escalation, collaborating closely with third‑party suppliers through to resolution.
- Collaborate with program/project managers to develop milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and execute network change procedures, including writing new procedures when necessary.
- Develop solutions to enable front‑line support teams to act on network failure conditions.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Coordinate networking automation services for the development and integration of support tooling.
- Coordinate with network monitoring to gather telemetry and create alert rules.
- Build dashboards to represent data at various network layers and device roles to identify network issues and anomalies.
- Frequently develop scripts to automate routine tasks for the team and business units.
- Act as SME on software development projects for network automation and network monitoring.
- Collaborate with network vendor technical account teams and internal QA teams to drive bug resolution and assist in qualification of new firmware/operating systems.
- 5+ years of experience in networking technologies.
- Proficiency with Python or similar scripting language.
- Proficiency with network technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
- Experience developing network automation or device management solutions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, thriving in collaborative and agile teams.
- Ownership mindset—delivering results, embracing ambiguity, and driving continuous improvements.
- Experience working in a network support role.
- Proficiency with other network technologies and protocols including IS‑IS, RSVP‑TE, EVPN, VxLAN, DHCP, DNS, IPv4, and IPv
6. - Experience with network modeling and programming – YAML, YANG, Open Config, NETCONF.
- Experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions.
- Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA and version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of Scrum & Agile Methodologies.
