The team is accountable for network security selections to ensure availability, speed to market, and control cost. We build systems that detect, assess, and mitigate security risk across the global infrastructure and keep the Amazon Infrastructure secure.

We are looking for Network Security Engineers to provide technical thought leadership in the development of next-generation networks. They will take risks, iterate designs, and deliver robust, scalable systems with a focus on information security and network reliability.

• Own Network Security choices for solutions including robotics, automation, and embedded devices.
• Drive security into tools used by Amazonians each day, ensuring understanding of authentication protocols, core network, and system security principles and current attack patterns.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures to safeguard systems and infrastructure.
• Perform network security design reviews and risk assessments.
• Develop and maintain a security risk register and partner with risk owners to remediate risks.
• Simplify ACLs to clear the network backlog for new and existing solutions.
• Collect, evaluate, and summarize data from multiple sources to create compelling written and verbal communications.
• Drive root cause resolution of network events critical to business.

• 4+ years of experience troubleshooting system issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools.
• 5+ years identifying security issues and risks, developing mitigation plans.
• 4+ years scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages.
• Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages:
  Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, Go.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams.
• Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques.
• Experience with security in service‑oriented architectures/microservices and web services.
• Experience in cyber security and at least one relevant technical area such as large‑scale systems engineering, messaging, Linux networking, performance analysis, software‑defined networking.

The base salary range for this position is USD annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and location.
