Site Reliability Engineer (Associate / Intermediate / Senior)

Site Reliability Engineer Associate (SRE) is responsible for assisting to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of TRS Information Technology Infrastructure. The incumbent assists in managing a complex application and infrastructure environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure such as Microsoft 365. This position works closely with IT staff and agency employees.

Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of communication infrastructure systems and cybersecurity systems, as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, and for managing a complex application and infrastructure environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure such as Microsoft 365. This position works closely with IT staff and agency employees.

Site Reliability Engineer Senior (SRE) is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Information Technology Infrastructure, maintaining the security and integrity of communication infrastructure systems and cybersecurity systems, and overseeing the management of a complex application and infrastructure environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure such as Microsoft 365. This position works closely with IT staff and agency employees.

Responsibilities

Site Reliability Engineer Associate Responsibilities
  • Use infrastructure‑as‑code, primarily Power Shell, to automate processes and integrations across various technologies.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and monitor IT infrastructure.
  • Provide support for infrastructure‑related tasks focusing on Microsoft Active Directory, Windows and Linux server administration, and Microsoft 365.
  • Apply source control, continuous integration and delivery, and configuration management processes and tools.
  • Analyze and diagnose infrastructure problems.
  • Assist in evaluating future information technology requirements and develop long‑range, comprehensive infrastructure planning and roadmaps.
  • Support the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams and agency staff to establish and sustain scalable, reliable, and high‑performing systems, ensure infrastructure security, and consult with teams to identify necessary tasks for supporting project initiatives.
  • Monitor applications and systems for compliance with licensing agreements and system availability.
  • Participate in planning, organizing, coordinating, and/or special projects.
  • Research developments in the site reliability engineering field including emerging technologies and trends, and recommend processes and tools to continuously improve procedures and deliver business value.
  • May be required to be available for on‑call duty or scheduled for after‑hours work.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
