Lead MDM Engineer

Contract Key Responsibilities 1. Strategy & Governance

Define and lead the Master Data Management (MDM) strategy
Establish data governance policies, stewardship models, and standards
Create and maintain a golden record for key domains (Customer, Supplier, Product)

2. Implementation & Architecture

Design and implement MDM technology solutions
Develop data models, integration frameworks, and ETL processes
Configure match & merge rules for data standardization and deduplication

3. Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of:
- Data Analysts
- Data Stewards
Set clear performance expectations and ensure timely delivery of project milestones

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with business stakeholders across:
- Sales
- Finance
- Marketing
Translate business requirements into technical design specifications
Act as a bridge between business and IT teams

5. Data Quality Monitoring

Define and enforce data quality rules and standards
Monitor KPIs related to data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Identify and resolve data quality issues proactively

6. Change Management

Drive adoption of data governance frameworks and standards
Promote master data as a strategic asset across the organization
Lead organizational change initiatives related to data practices

Core Skills & Expertise 1. Technical Leadership

Proven experience managing complex MDM / data governance projects
Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
Hands-on experience with tools such as:
- Jira
- Confluence
- Smartsheet
- MS Project

2. Master Data Governance

Deep understanding of:
- MDM principles
- Data governance frameworks
- Large-scale data quality initiatives
Expertise in:
- Requirement gathering & documentation
- Business impact analysis
- Stakeholder alignment via workshops/interviews

3. Technical Data Skills

8+ years of experience in data analysis / MDM / governance
Strong expertise in:
- SQL & Python
- Querying large and complex datasets
Experience with:
- Data profiling & source system analysis
- KPI definition and tracking
Exposure to analytics platforms:
- Hadoop
- Spark
- Snowflake

4. Data Architecture & Quality

Solid understanding of:
- Data architecture principles
- Data lineage
- Data dictionaries and metadata management
Experience with hierarchical data structures and enrichment techniques

5. Tools & Platforms

Hands-on experience with:
- Collibra
- Data Hub (or equivalent tools for governance & data quality)

6. Collaboration & Communication

Strong ability to work in a matrixed, global environment
Experience managing stakeholders across multiple time zones
Skilled in building consensus among competing priorities

7. Execution & Accountability

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Proven track record of:
- Delivering projects on time and within budget
- Managing large-scale, complex programs
