Sr. Data Engineer

Luna Data Solutions has an immediate long-term contract position opening (initial contract term approximately 12 months, with possible extension) for a Sr. Data Engineer with our public sector industry client located in Austin, TX.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday) in Austin, TX. All candidates must be currently local to the area.

As a member of the agile development team, your responsibilities will include:

• Serving as a technical leader for an agile development team.
• Acquiring data from various sources for multiple uses.
• Developing complex SQL scripts to transform source data into dimensional models, creating views and materialized views in Oracle.
• Automating data extraction and transformation using Informatica Power Center/IICS.
• Collaborating with the Data Engineering Team on optimal data design and implementation.
• Verifying and validating SQL scripts, Informatica automation, and database views.
• Developing automated verification and validation processes.
• Participating in all sprint ceremonies.
• Working with Architects on implementation designs and data acquisition strategies.
• Developing mockups and collaborating with customers for validation.
• Addressing technical problems and assisting with developmental tool configuration.
• Producing and maintaining technical specifications, diagrams, and documentation.
• Interpreting business requirements to propose enhancements and changes.

• Minimum 8 years of experience developing ETL mappings and workflows using Informatica Power Center or IICS.
• Minimum 8 years of experience acquiring/integrating data from multiple sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, PDF) for Tableau visualization.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing and developing complex, efficient Snowflake SQL scripts.
• Minimum 8 years of strong analytical/problem-solving experience as a system analyst for data warehousing or performance management projects.
• Minimum 8 years of technical writing and diagramming proficiency (Visio, Erwin, MS Office, MS Project).
• Minimum 8 years of experience planning and delivering software platforms across organizational units.
• Minimum 8 years of experience writing well-designed, testable, and efficient code.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize conflicting assignments.
• Experience on an agile sprint team.
• Understanding of security principles for healthcare data.
• Experience with BI/performance metrics data visualization environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent.
• Prior experience in the Healthcare Industry, specifically with HHS agencies.
• Experience working with PII or PHI data.
• Experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, Web Services (REST, SOAP), JIRA, Git Hub/Git Actions, Mule Soft, and AI tools (Snowflake Cortex, Informatica Claire).
