Position OverviewThe Senior Risk and Compliance Data Analyst reports to the Grants Federal Compliance Officer for the Department of Grant Compliance and Administration. The analyst performs risk assessment and compliance data analysis, data research, examination, and identification of data patterns and trends to support compliance with federal requirements, enforcement actions, sub‑recipient monitoring, and complaints. The work is time sensitive and includes data analysis to track and inform on non‑compliance actions, corrective action plans, risk assessment activities, federal sub‑recipient data awards, expenditure, findings, and audit trends.
The analyst performs highly complex data analysis and research work under limited supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
- Data Analysis: collects, reviews, tracks, and analyzes risk assessment, non‑compliance activities, corrective actions, complaints, and sub‑recipient monitoring data.
- Data Management: maintains, updates, and assesses risk assessment, non‑compliance activities, corrective actions, complaints, and sub‑recipient monitoring data, procedures, and systems.
- Develop Data Reports, Tools and Resources: develops and maintains risk assessment, non‑compliance activities, corrective actions, complaints, and sub‑recipient monitoring data reports, tools, and resources.
- Ad‑Hoc and Special Projects: creates ad‑hoc and special projects as assigned, including but not limited to data projects related to public information requests, complaints, risk assessment, corrective actions, investigations, and other referrals.
- Education:
Graduate from an accredited four‑year college or university. - Experience:
At least four years of experience in system analysis, database administration, or web‑based application work (education and experience may substitute one for one). - Certifications:
Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) within six months of employment. - Knowledge:
Statistics, data sets analysis, queries, report writing, security procedures for confidential data; data models, database design, data mining, segmentation; ability to identify patterns and trends, evaluate data quality, and provide guidance on data gaps, errors, anomalies. - Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication, highly organized, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, self‑reflection, feedback, teamwork, and continuous improvement. - Preferred:
Coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, information systems, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or related field. - Other:
Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.
