* Job Summary:
** The Enterprise Data team’s mission is to unify data across the enterprise to optimize business decisions made at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels of the organization. We accomplish this by building a data foundation utilizing Palantir Foundry, AIP and Ontology that powers analytics and reporting platforms, and business processes that provide quality data, in a timely fashion, from any channel of the company and present them in such a manner as to maximize the value of that data for both internal and external customers.
The Software Engineer, Data (L2) is responsible for building technology and pipelines to rapidly model different and varying data sources into reusable data models that can be consumed by a wide variety of customers including operational applications as well as analytics & metrics. Responsibilities include hands-on contributions in a team environment, critical thinking and developing technical solutions with business stakeholders and changing requirements, and mentoring engineers to ensure high quality development and best practices are maintained throughout the delivery cycles.
Our Data platform is transitioning to Palantir from a Google and Microsoft hybrid cloud tech stack. Our data storage layer includes Big Query, Databricks, Azure, and Postgres. Across our broader tech stack, we code primarily in Python, Scala, and JavaScript and make use of many frameworks including Dataflow, Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, dbt, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg.
** Responsibilities*
* * Leverage existing patterns—and create new ones as needed—to rapidly onboard new datasets into the data platform.
* Understand business use cases and data context to design complete, high‐quality data models supporting both operational and analytical needs.
* Apply deep technical expertise and critical thinking to translate business requirements into scalable, adaptable system and data solutions.
* Take ownership of deliverables while collaborating and mentoring team members, including conducting and participating in design and code reviews.
* Communicate effectively with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and business context; operate as a forward‐deployed engineer embedded with partner teams.
** Requirements*
* * 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data lakes, or software engineering with a data focus.
* Strong data modeling skills and the ability to work directly with business stakeholders to understand data needs.
* Proficiency in Python, Java, SQL, and Scala.
* Strong knowledge of Data Lake and Delta Lake concepts.
* Understanding of data security and data governance best practices.
* Hands‐on experience with Databricks, Big Query, or Palantir for building enterprise data platforms; experience with end‐to‐end data pipelines or ontology development in Palantir is a plus.
* Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Fivetran.
* Experience working in cloud environments (GCP or Azure preferred).
