Position Summary
Hacker One is seeking a Manager to lead Applied Data Engineering on our Data One team. The role focuses on discovering, architecting, and developing high‑impact, high‑performance, scalable source of truth data marts and data products to power Hacker One’s sole source of truth.

- First 30 days: get to know Hacker One, join your new squad, onboard by learning our technology stack (Python, Airflow, Snowflake, DBT, Meltano, Fivetran, Looker, AWS), and meet your teammates.
- Within 60 days: deliver company‑level impact through consistent contribution to high‑impact, high‑performance, scalable source of truth data marts and products.
- Within 90 days: drive continuous evolution and innovation of data at Hacker One, identify and lead new initiatives, and foster cross‑department collaboration.
- After 90 days:
- Develop and execute a roadmap for continuously launching high‑impact, high‑performance, scalable source of truth data marts and products, leading cross‑functional product and technical initiatives.
- Act as a technical paragon and cross‑functional force multiplier, autonomously prioritizing focus, contributing at all levels, elevating the squad, and designing solutions to ambiguous business challenges.
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Champion higher standards for discoverability, usability, reliability, timeliness, consistency, validity, uniqueness, simplicity, completeness, integrity, security, and compliance of information and insights across the company.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- 8+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, Business Intelligence Engineer, or similar role with a proven track record of launching source of truth data marts, and at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- 8+ years of experience building and optimizing data pipelines, products, and solutions.
- Extensive experience with data technologies and tools such as Airflow, Snowflake, Meltano, Fivetran, DBT, and AWS.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Strong proficiency in creating compelling data stories using visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Sigma, Domo, or PowerBI.
- Proven track record of having substantial impact across the company and externally, demonstrating the ability to drive positive change and achieve significant results.
- Strong proficiency in at least one data programming language such as Python or Scala.
- Experience working with business applications such as Salesforce, Clari, Gainsight, Workday, Git Lab, Slack, or Fresh service.
- Proven track record of driving innovation, adopting emerging technologies and implementing industry best practices.
- Passion for working backwards from the customer and empathy for business stakeholders.
- Thriving on solving ambiguous problem statements in an early‑stage environment.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present data‑driven narratives in verbal, presentation, and written formats.
- Experience shaping the strategic vision for data.
- Experience designing advanced data visualizations and data‑rich interfaces in Figma or equivalent.
- Experience working with Agile and iterative development processes.
$170,000 to $205,000 (+ equity)
