Applied Research Laboratories seeks a research laboratory-level IT, Security & Compliance Manager to lead secure IT operations and regulatory compliance for a defense‑focused applied research environment. The role ensures laboratory systems, networks, and data meet DoD and federal cybersecurity requirements while enabling high‑performance research for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).

• Lead secure IT infrastructure operations, including research networks, compute environments, storage, and endpoint management.
• Oversee cybersecurity strategy and implementation aligned with NIST, RMF, CMMC, and related DoD frameworks.
• Manage risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with CUI, ITAR/EAR, and sponsor‑specific security requirements.
• Develop and enforce IT governance, policies, and security procedures.
• Lead and mentor IT/security staff; manage budgets and vendor relationships.
• Serve as primary liaison to laboratory IT, security offices, and DoD stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
• Eight years of experience in IT and cybersecurity within a regulated or federal environment.
• Experience supporting DoD, UARC, FFRDC, or defense contractor programs.
• Working knowledge of NIST‑based cybersecurity frameworks and accreditation processes.
• Eligibility for immediate access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
• US Citizen.

• Experience with classified or secure research environments.
• Familiarity with CUI, export controls, and federal research compliance.
• Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, Security+.

$140,000‑$165,000+ negotiable depending on qualifications.
