SummaryApplied Research Laboratories seeks a research laboratory-level IT, Security & Compliance Manager to lead secure IT operations and regulatory compliance for a defense‑focused applied research environment. The role ensures laboratory systems, networks, and data meet DoD and federal cybersecurity requirements while enabling high‑performance research for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
Responsibilities- Lead secure IT infrastructure operations, including research networks, compute environments, storage, and endpoint management.
- Oversee cybersecurity strategy and implementation aligned with NIST, RMF, CMMC, and related DoD frameworks.
- Manage risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and audit readiness.
- Ensure compliance with CUI, ITAR/EAR, and sponsor‑specific security requirements.
- Develop and enforce IT governance, policies, and security procedures.
- Lead and mentor IT/security staff; manage budgets and vendor relationships.
- Serve as primary liaison to laboratory IT, security offices, and DoD stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
- Eight years of experience in IT and cybersecurity within a regulated or federal environment.
- Experience supporting DoD, UARC, FFRDC, or defense contractor programs.
- Working knowledge of NIST‑based cybersecurity frameworks and accreditation processes.
- Eligibility for immediate access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
- US Citizen.
- Experience with classified or secure research environments.
- Familiarity with CUI, export controls, and federal research compliance.
- Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, Security+.
$140,000‑$165,000+ negotiable depending on qualifications.
