At Amazon, security is central to maintaining customer trust and delivering delightful customer experiences. Our Autonomous AI Security team is looking for a skilled Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE III) to create autonomous security solutions that protect Amazon’s customers. As an SDE III, you will leverage AI/ML technologies to automate detection, analysis, and remediation across proactive, offensive, and defensive security at scale, and will help build, mentor, and grow a new development team.

Your work will directly enhance Amazon’s security posture by improving detection capabilities, strengthening guardrails, and advancing automated security tools.

• Architect, design, and develop AI/ML-driven security automation systems to detect and mitigate threats at scale.
• Build and maintain scalable applications that enable adaptive, real‑time security detection, analysis, and remediation.
• Develop automated systems integrated into Amazon’s security infrastructure.
• Research and prototype new security solutions, evaluating design approaches for technical feasibility.

Your day starts with a coffee while diving into autonomous security ’ll architect and code intelligent systems that drive proactive, offensive, and defensive security at Amazon scale. Working alongside top security engineers and scientists, you’ll build automated systems that protect millions of customers across Amazon’s vast digital landscape.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship)
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
• Knowledge of machine learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference life cycles, and optimization techniques

The base salary range for this position is $ – $ annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
