VP Business Systems, Data & AI
This role is accountable for the enterprise platform portfolio that powers core operations, decision-making, and scalable growth. This includes ERP, data/analytics platforms, integration/EDI, and business-critical applications. The VP ensures these platforms operate as a cohesive ecosystem, secure, governed, scalable, and aligned to business strategy. This role is designed for an operating model where vendors execute build/run, while retains ownership, governance, architecture, and accountability.
Reports to:
SVP Global Technology
- Ensure enterprise platforms deliver repeatable business capability and predictable change at scale.
- Protect Nutrabolt from platform drift, vendor dependency, and architecture sprawl.
- Establish an environment where the company can safely accelerate strategic initiatives through:
- Standardized delivery patterns
- Trusted data and metrics
- Governed AI adoption
- Strong controls and auditability
- ERP / Enterprise Applications: D365 and core enterprise business systems
- Data Platform:
Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, cloud data warehouse patterns - Analytics & AI Products:
Power BI ecosystem, semantic layer, AI agents / Copilot enablement (governed) - Integration & API Platform: integration patterns, middleware, APIs, eventing (as applicable)
- EDI / B2B: SPS Commerce and B2B connectivity governance, customer/supplier integrations
- Business-Critical Applications: custom apps and niche platforms that support revenue, operations, compliance
- Own the multi-year platform strategy aligned to business priorities and growth targets.
- Translate enterprise strategy into platform roadmaps with clear outcomes, sequencing, and dependencies.
- Ensure platform decisions optimize for:
- Scalability and speed of change
- Control and audit readiness
- Reduced manual workarounds and shadow systems
- Drive a rational strategy for business-owned platforms (e.g., E2open) to ensure they are integrated and governed, without disrupting business ownership.
- Architecture, Standards & Guardrails
- Establish and enforce enterprise standards for:
- Solution architecture
- Integration patterns
- Data and semantic modeling
- Platform configuration principles (e.g., avoid customization sprawl)
- Chair/own the architecture review mechanism (ARB) to prevent:
- Vendor-driven architecture drift
- Tool sprawl and duplicated capabilities
- Uncontrolled technical debt
- Vendor-Executed Delivery & Operating Model Oversight
- Own vendor execution outcomes across build and run:
- Delivery quality and timeliness
- Operational service levels (where applicable)
- Knowledge transfer and documentation standards
- Set expectations that vendors must deliver:
- Repeatable process
- Quality gates
- Evidence-based progress
- Transparent risk management
- Ensure the company has a trusted data foundation and consistent KPI definitions.
- Sponsor and enforce the semantic layer and metric governance approach so "one version of truth" is real.
- Ensure analytics delivery is treated as product outcomes, not dashboard volume.
- Enable responsible AI adoption for business value while maintaining guardrails.
- Ensure AI agents and Copilot solutions use:
- Approved data sources
- Governed semantic models
- Auditability and controls
- Clear ownership and monitoring
- Partner with Security/Risk and Legal/Privacy stakeholders to formalize:
- AI usage policies
- Data exposure standards
- Ongoing compliance and monitoring
- Ensure platform solutions support:
- Controls and auditability (SOX/SOC readiness where applicable)
- Data lineage and traceability for key reports
- Segregation of duties and role-based access
- Partner with IT Controls and Security leaders to remediate gaps and maintain a defensible posture.
- Own platform portfolio health across:
- Cost transparency and optimization
- Vendor commercial management (renewals, SLAs, penalties, exit readiness)
- Lifecycle management (upgrade strategy, deprecation, rationalization)
- Provide clear executive-level reporting: value, risks, and trade-offs.
- Build strong partnerships with functional leaders (Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial, Operations).
- Ensure product owners exist and decision rights are clear.
- Remove friction that prevents value realization (adoption barriers, unclear ownership, conflicting metrics).
- D365 F&O or comparable ERP platform leadership
- Microsoft data ecosystem exposure (Fabric, Azure, Power BI) strongly preferred
- Experience in high-growth environments and/or IPO readiness journeys
- Supply chain + finance process understanding (enough to govern outcomes and trade-offs)
- Experience implementing governance without slowing business velocity
