Lead Site Reliability Engineer

Overview

Lead Site Reliability Engineer positions offered by Cox Automotive Corporate Services, LLC (Austin, Texas). Lead the implementation of IaC and automation with unit testing, quality gates, App Sec tooling, automated functional testing, and performance testing. Develop and maintain observability practices, including SLI, SLO, SLA, error budgets, dashboards, alerting, and notification systems. Create and manage runbooks, games days, post‑mortems, and incident response workflows.

Engage with cross‑functional teams that design, develop, and implement enterprise‑scalable cloud‑based solutions that improve SRE/Dev Ops best practices and tooling. Play a role in establishing best practices, supporting communities of practice, and promoting adoption within the engineering teams.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation, including unit testing, quality gates, and App Sec tooling.
• Develop and maintain observability practices (SLI, SLO, SLA, error budgets, dashboards, alerting, and notification systems).
• Create and manage runbooks, games days, post‑mortems, and incident response workflows.
• Engage with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and implement enterprise‑scalable cloud‑based solutions that improve SRE/Dev Ops best practices and tooling.
• Promote tooling adoption and support communities of practice within engineering teams.

• Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science or related field and 6 years of experience implementing quality frameworks with quality gates within a CI/CD framework.
• 6 years of experience working with observability platforms (New Relic, Cloud Watch, Grafana, or Datadog).
• 6 years of experience working in AWS and CI/CD tooling and capabilities.
• 6 years of experience using Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation.
• 6 years of experience in one of the following programming languages: C#, Java, or Python.
• 6 years of experience in App Sec tools (Veracode, Cloud Sploit, or Data Theorem).
• Alternative qualifications: 4 years of experience (same as above) with a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields; or 1 year of experience (same as above) with a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields.

Position reports to Austin, TX office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but applicants must live within commuting distance of the office.
