Position
Title: Project Lead - Solicitation#
Location: Austin, TX
Agency: Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC)
OverviewResponsible for planning, coordination, requirements gathering, business analysis, specifications development, project planning, project monitoring, and status reporting for moderate to complex business solutions. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
Key Responsibilities- Support planning, coordination, and execution of projects to ensure work is completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.
- Develop project plans, track milestones, coordinate with stakeholders, identify risks and issues, and prepare status updates for leadership.
- Facilitate meetings, provide process improvement support, ensure quality and compliance, and support leadership communication.
- Promote communication, accountability, and consistent project management practices across teams.
- 3+ years of project coordination or project management experience, including cross‑functional or cross‑divisional projects.
- PMP certification (proof may be requested).
- Proficiency with project tools such as Microsoft Planner, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio, Power Automate, or Power Apps.
- Ability to create project plans, timelines, milestones, action item logs, and status reports.
- Capability to coordinate work across multiple divisions, teams, or business areas.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills—building relationships, gathering input, managing expectations, and supporting consensus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing updates, leading meetings, documenting decisions, and presenting to leadership.
- Process‑improvement competence—analyzing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and supporting standardized project practices.
- Risk and issue management—identifying risks, barriers, dependencies, and delays, and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Documentation and reporting—maintaining accurate project documentation, meeting notes, action items, risk logs, dashboards, and executive‑level reports.
- Strong organization and attention to detail—managing competing priorities, tracking deadlines, and ensuring accurate deliverables.
- Leadership and accountability—guiding project activities, supporting follow‑through, promoting accountability, and maintaining project momentum.
- Experience in large organizations or public sector environments.
- Experience in process‑improvement initiatives.
- Experience in automation, AI, or modernization projects.
- Tool proficiency with Microsoft Planner, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio, Power Automate, Power Apps or similar.
- Familiarity with AI and automation tools supporting modernized processes.
The Project Lead will work 2 days remote per week, with 3 days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday). Candidates must be local to the Austin area (within a 50‑mile radius).
