Database Administrator, Data Engineering
Our client, a global financial services technology firm with offices in New York City and Austin, TX, is looking to add a Database Engineer to its data engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on database professional to drive project delivery, monitor production environments, and resolve technical issues within a fast‑paced, data‑driven organization.
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $160,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to project-focused initiatives supporting data platform enhancements, development, and process optimization
- Monitor the health and performance of database systems, ensuring stability and high availability
- Respond to operational tickets and support issue triage, performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting as needed
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation for system management, data movement, and platform integration
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand current database architecture and support evolving business needs
- Participate in knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the technology group
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field required
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience as a database engineer or in a closely related role
- Strong experience with Vertica (required) and familiarity with other columnar databases such as Click House
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power Shell, and shell scripting
