Job Description & How to Apply Below

Welcome to the Agentic Commerce Era. At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI‑driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of Big Commerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever‑changing market.

We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we’re looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what’s possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you.

Commerce is looking for a Technical Product Manager to drive the execution and evolution of Catalyst, Big Commerce's next‑generation storefront architecture powered by Next.js, React, and the Storefront GraphQL API.

Big Commerce, part of the Commerce brand family, helps merchants increase sales at every stage of their growth. From small startups to mid‑market businesses and large enterprises, we provide the leading e‑commerce platform. Our customers can then concentrate on what’s most important: growing their businesses. We enable our customers to build, innovate, and grow, collectively reshaping the e‑commerce industry.

Our platform currently serves tens of thousands of developers globally, processing billions of dollars in merchant revenue annually. Catalyst is the architectural forcing function moving Big Commerce toward a public‑API‑first, composable commerce platform — and you’ll be a core part of it. The ecosystem spans the Storefront GraphQL API, a versioned SDK framework, a Reference Theme, Checkout modernization, B2B integration, Native Hosting on Cloudflare Workers, and a Visual Builder integration.

You’ll own execution across several of these areas and partner with senior product leadership on the overall vision.

This is not a traditional PM role. You’ll be designing Type Script SDK APIs, defining GraphQL schema contracts, shaping the developer experience for a Next.js framework, and working on a hosting product built on Cloudflare’s edge platform. You need to be as comfortable reading code as you are writing a roadmap — able to run the product locally, open a PR when something needs fixing, and go deep on technical decisions without waiting for someone to explain them.

That doesn’t mean you know everything, it means you’re willing to go figure it out.

To be considered, the applicant must reside in the United States. We have a preference for candidates located in Austin, TX or Atlanta, GA.

What You'll Do Product Strategy
  • Own the roadmap for your assigned product lanes and contribute to the broader Catalyst strategy alongside senior product leadership, ensuring your work converges into a coherent whole
  • Help define the vision for the product experience through sketches, mockups, prototypes, and written documentation
  • Prioritize the execution path within your areas by making smart trade‑offs — balancing developer experience improvements, feature support, hosting infrastructure, and architectural modernization against finite team capacity
  • Define the public API surface for SDKs, including versioning semantics, Type Script interfaces, and developer‑facing contracts
  • Contribute to the modernization of adjacent product areas into native, API‑first implementations within the Catalyst framework
  • Help drive the Native Hosting product from alpha through GA — including CLI experience, deployment architecture, custom domain assignment, usage metering, and pricing
  • Support monetization strategy and product growth drivers for Native Hosting and the broader Catalyst ecosystem
  • Track KPIs and monitor performance against goals: live storefronts, GMV, churn rate, reported bugs, MRR, and partner sentiment
  • Understand and monitor the competitive landscape — Shopify…
