The projected end date for this assignment is November 20, 2026.## Purpose The PHP Web Application Developer provides part-time technical support to maintain a suite of custom-built PHP/MySQL web portals used to manage NISOD's annual and virtual conference operations, award and grant submissions, and member-facing workflows.

The role focuses on updating existing application functionality where needed, keeping other functionality stable, diagnosing and resolving bugs, and ensuring the applications remain available and secure during an organizational transition. ## Responsibilities
* Update PHP web applications for the 2027 annual conference, including portals for conference liaisons, presenters, reviewers, administrators, and submitters. Maintain MySQL database integrity; investigate and repair data issues as reported by staff.
* Apply security patches and PHP/dependency updates in a way that preserves existing functionality. Document code behavior, known issues, and fixes as work is completed, producing notes suitable for a future developer or vendor to reference.
* Communicate clearly with non-technical staff to understand reported issues and confirm resolutions.##

Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience writing, reading, and debugging PHP code. Working knowledge of MySQL sufficient to query, troubleshoot, and modify data. Experience maintaining or supporting existing web applications (new development experience alone is not sufficient). Ability to work independently and document work clearly for non-technical audiences.##

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with form-based PHP applications or portal/workflow systems. Familiarity with legacy PHP codebases (pre-framework or lightly structured). Experience in a nonprofit, higher education, or membership association environment. Comfort working with minimal documentation of inherited code.## Hourly Rate $40 + depending on qualifications## Working Conditions
