Senior Database Administrator (Oracle/Azure SQL) Hybrid (Austin, TX)

Role: Senior Database Administrator (Database Administrator III)

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid 2 Days Onsite, 3 Days Remote)

Duration: 12 Months

The State of Texas is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA III) to support enterprise applications running in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and cloud environments (Azure/AWS). The ideal candidate will manage database administration, performance tuning, migrations, disaster recovery, security, and high availability while supporting Agile development teams. This role includes migrating Oracle databases to Azure SQL, optimizing database performance, implementing monitoring solutions, and maintaining enterprise database infrastructure.

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Design and maintain logical and physical database models.
• Migrate Oracle databases, stored procedures, and functions to Azure SQL.
• Perform database tuning, indexing, optimization, and performance monitoring.
• Manage database installations, upgrades, patching, backups, replication, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Implement database security, user management, and data protection standards.
• Support ETL processes and large-scale data migrations.
• Collaborate with Java development teams in Agile (Scrum) environments.
• Create technical documentation, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure database integrity and availability.
• Support CI/CD, Dev Ops processes, and cloud-based database deployments.

• 10+ years of Database Administration experience.
• 8+ years with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or similar relational databases.
• Strong experience in database design, data modeling, performance tuning, indexing, and optimization.
• Experience with enterprise application architecture and multi-tier applications.
• Expertise in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
• Strong knowledge of disaster recovery, database security, backup/recovery, and high availability.

• Azure SQL and Azure cloud experience.
• AWS cloud exposure.
• ETL development and data migration experience.
• Dev Ops, Git, CI/CD pipelines.
• Java/J2EE application support.
• Azure or DBA certifications.

• Local to Austin, TX only (within 50-mile radius).
• Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite (Monday & Friday), 3 days remote.
• In-person interview required.
• Candidates must currently reside in Texas.
• Pre-employment security review required.

Senior DBA with strong Oracle and SQL Server expertise, Azure migration experience, database performance tuning, disaster recovery, cloud technologies, and Agile development experience supporting enterprise-scale applications.
