Purpose
The Desktop Support Specialist provides frontline technical support to faculty, staff and students at the School of Law, ensuring reliable day-to-day technology and a positive first point of contact for IT services.
Responsibilities
* Provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop support, including responding to help requests, and installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading computer hardware (PC and Mac), software, and related equipment to keep workstations running smoothly. Leads new employee IT orientations.
* Maintains accurate, up-to-date records across support ticketing and inventory systems. Responds promptly to urgent or emergency issues, evaluating problems and taking proper action to resolve them quickly.
* Serves as the school's Canvas administrator, supporting course setup, access, and basic troubleshooting.
* Provides backup audio-visual support for the Media Services team as needed.
* Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current or recent experience providing IT customer service and desktop support. Experience supporting macOS computers in a networked environment. Experience supporting Windows 10. Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, nonverbal, and written communication. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently with limited direction. Ability to maintain and manage information and documentation in an organized manner. Experience or willingness to train to perform basic networking functions and troubleshooting.
Experience supporting common applications and suites (e.g., Microsoft Office 365).
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Recent experience providing IT support in a higher education environment. Recent experience providing training and support for a LMS.
Salary Range
$50,000 + depending on qualifications
