This onsite role requires the selected candidate to work from an HHS office in Austin, Texas.
Power Platform & Application Engineer focuses on the development of HHS business, application, information, automation, solutions, and technology roadmaps for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This position requires a strong understanding of primary Health and Human Services (HHS) business processes, technical aspects of enterprise architecture domains, and various architecture disciplines including cloud, business, infrastructure, applications, data, security, and low-code platforms.
This positiondeterminespriority business needs and recommends specific solutions and technologies for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across the HHS enterprise. Responsibilities include architecture and governance for Microsoft Power Platform capabilities such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Dataverse, and related analytics/integration patterns, ensuring solutions align with enterprise standards, security, compliance, data protection, and application lifecycle management requirements.
The position leads initiatives using project management best practices and industry architecture frameworks. The Architect leads design efforts, defines end-to-end architectures, oversees and performs research studies and presentations that include recommendations and implementation guidance, formulates logical descriptions of problems, and recommends optimum solutions. This role works with other IT groups in defining architectures and leading projects that cross functional agency systems and other state entities, requiring coordination, planning, and scheduling during transition, development, and implementation stages.
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
- Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Serves as Architect for defining enterprise portfolio roadmaps that meet specific business needs, including low-code/no-code and workflow automation opportunities using Microsoft Power Platform and related enterprise application technologies. Conducts and oversees studies and the preparation of initiative reports that include findings, presentations, recommendations, and implementation guidance; formulates logical descriptions of problems; and devises optimum solutions. Prepares As-Is, To-Be, gap analysis, SWOTs, charts, diagrams, and tables depicting current and proposed systems in terms of costs, benefits derived, and tasks accomplished.
