Sr. BI Engineer

We are looking for a product-minded BI Engineer to join the My Fitness Pal  Business Intelligence team. As a Sr. BI Engineer, you will be an expert on My Fitness Pal  KPI reporting and play a key role in making the My Fitness Pal  data environment amenable to self-service via Tableau. The Business Intelligence team is a great place to be  are on the pulse of the business as we are responsible for KPIs, Monitoring and Alerts, AB Testing, Data Democratization, and Strategic Insights.

• Perform regular maintenance to maintain the quality of our data; in particular, take ownership of our reporting data pipeline and business logic
• Manage complexity when data sources tell different stories
• Diagnose changes in KPIs and help identify drivers
• Create clear and easy-to-understand analysis and recommendations
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency in BI infrastructure
• Perform deep-dive analytics on ad-hoc requests from stakeholders across the organization
• Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to provide actionable insights on My Fitness Pal  users
• Architect data models to further our data democratization efforts and contribute to our reporting "curated zone" architecture
• Develop strong relationships with our partners in Data Engineering to manage projects that unlock data for the BI team
• Most importantly, be a trusted partner to our marketing and product BA teams and the core business functions they support

• 4-6 years in a BI Engineering or Analytics Engineering role. Equivalent technology industry experience within business intelligence, analytics, or data engineering functions will be considered
• Advanced to Expert SQL
• Proficiency with data visualization using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
• Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R for analytics
• Experience building data warehouses and modeling data through ETL pipelines (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query)
• Experience with project management and supporting relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Data Engineering)
• Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Curious Mindset - We are looking for someone who enjoys seeking the truth through data - if you ever found yourself bringing in out-of-the-box datasets and theories because you just had to figure out why a number moved, this is the job for you
• MS in an appropriate technology field (Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, etc.) or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building AI-ready data models and semantic layers, with familiarity using data cataloging tools such as Secoda
• Experience working in consumer-facing app environments (e.g., subscription/DTC mobile or web products), with an understanding of user acquisition, retention, and engagement metrics unique to consumer products

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at My Fitness Pal  ranges from $110,000 - $170,000
. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
