Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) is seeking highly skilled and motivated professionals to assist with the operations of a unique service department dedicated to creating, maintaining, and promoting technology within the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas. Purpose

The LAITS Studio team, which produces thousands of field and studio events annually, seeks an Audio Engineer with experience managing both A/V infrastructure and acting as an engineer for live events, broadcasts, studio sessions, and recordings. This position is responsible for maintaining audio infrastructure for 5 broadcast video studios, 2 audio studios, and several event venues, as well as working in a production capacity in these and other spaces.

A candidate needs to be able to work with Dante, NDI and other AV networking protocols, and have technical studio knowledge, organizational skills, communication skills, dependability, and the ability to quickly assess and correct issues. The position will work closely with the Video Studios Manager to ensure all facilities within LAITS are operational for productions, and any audio issues are resolved immediately.

This position will assist the LAITS field crew with the planning and implementing of solutions for events. This role will also assist with the upskilling of junior and student audio engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation of studio and field audio production needs.
  • Works as lead audio engineer on studio and location productions, including preproduction, planning and implementation.
  • Mix and master productions in post-production as needed.
  • Project manage A/V productions and facilitate client communication and satisfaction, including estimates, planning, scheduling, and invoicing.
  • Research, manage, implement, and maintain audio technology for all studios in LAITS.
  • Assists with the continued development and implementation of studio and field-based production processes, workflows, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Provide training on all aspects of audio production and technology for Student Technology Assistants.
  • Maintain studio infrastructure and equipment inventory, diagnose problems, troubleshoot solutions, and ensure all studios are running as intended daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • 2 years of professional experience in the field of audio.
  • 2 years of experience working in audio studios, broadcast studios, or similar environment.
