Purpose

This position provides professional statistical support to students and faculty in the School of Nursing. This position applies advanced statistical modeling, data visualization techniques, and other analytical skills to produce deliverables in response to routine and non-routine data requests. Engages in best practices for data-detailed activities, such as collecting, merging, cleaning, coding, validating, documenting, and updating datasets for analytical use. Investigates and applies new tools, algorithms, and processes for data mining and data visualization.

Responsibilities
  • Performs advanced inferential statistical modeling and data visualization work in direct support of sponsored research and scientific publication.
  • Independently designs and conducts the analytic components of research projects, from statistical analysis planning through model development, results reporting, and manuscript support, applying established professional standards with only general supervision from a principal investigator, department head, or research director.
  • Creates original code in R as needed for conducting custom analyses.
  • Advises faculty and students regarding best practice data analysis strategies.
  • Supervises data analysis projects to ensure validity, rigor and reproducibility.
  • Consults with faculty and students regarding data cleaning and management.
  • Clearly explains data analysis steps and products to faculty and students.
  • Demonstrates data analysis in SPSS or similar GUI-based software to support faculty and student comprehension of data analysis steps.
  • Writes methods and results sections for scientific manuscripts.
  • Writes data analysis plan for grant applications.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science
  • At least 1 year of collaborative statistical experience in an academic setting
  • Proficiency with descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, structural equation modeling, longitudinal analyses, and clinical trial data analyses
  • Expertise with SPSS or similar software
  • Expertise with R
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

$77,000+ depending upon qualifications
