A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Database Administrator. Position type:
Full-time, Contract Duration: 6 months, possible extension.
Location:
Austin, TX - Hybrid
Position Overview:
As a Database Administrator driving migration and Dev Ops excellence, you'll play a pivotal part in shaping modern data ecosystems. Your mission? Seamlessly transition legacy data into powerful cloud-native environments while ensuring performance, security, and reliability at every stage. Working primarily with MySQL on Amazon RDS/Aurora, you'll orchestrate the movement of data from diverse legacy platforms into scalable, future-ready architectures. This is a hands-on role where automation, optimization, and problem-solving come together in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
You ll DoBuild & Transform
- Bring database environments to life by deploying and configuring systems aligned with application blueprints
- Lead full and incremental data migrations from legacy systems into cloud-based MySQL environments
- Design and implement ETL pipelines that power efficient and scalable data transformation
- Drive automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to streamline provisioning
- Embed database workflows into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git
- Enable seamless, repeatable deployments across environments
- Monitor performance, availability, and health across production and non-production environments
- Troubleshoot and fine-tune databases for peak efficiency
- Manage backups, recovery, patching, and ongoing system maintenance
- Implement robust data security practices including access control, encryption, and auditing
- Design high availability and disaster recovery strategies (Multi-AZ, replication, etc.)
- Plan capacity and ensure optimal resource utilization
- Partner with development and QA teams to support database needs across the lifecycle
- Deploy and manage reporting solutions using tools like Amazon Quick Sight and other BI platforms
- Document processes to enable knowledge sharing and audit readiness
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents when needed
- Hands-on experience with MySQL (must-have), especially in AWS RDS/Aurora environments
- Proven ability to migrate data from legacy or heterogeneous systems to the cloud
- Strong command over SQL, ETL processes, and data validation techniques
- Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
- Expertise in performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery practices
- Familiarity with AWS cloud ecosystem and hybrid environments
- Comfort working across Linux and Windows platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-energy setting
- Excellent communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2-5 years of relevant experience (flexible based on expertise)
- Willingness to support occasional after-hours work when needed
- Experience with Amazon Aurora (MySQL-compatible)
- Exposure to SQL Server and/or Oracle
- Familiarity with Dev Ops tools and monitoring platforms (Cloud Watch, Open Search, etc.)
- Knowledge of automation/scripting (Python, Shell)
- Experience in regulated environments requiring compliance and audit readiness
- Pay Range*: $55.00 - $57.14 per hour
- * Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
