This role requires a strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, including experience with backups, restores, upgrades, replication, and point-in-time recovery. Day-to-day responsibilities include operational support and troubleshooting performance issues (load average, locks, blocking, long-running queries). Familiarity with PostgreSQL configuration parameters, system tables, maintenance tasks, and cloud deployments (AWS RDS/EC2, GCP) is essential. Experience with high-availability solutions (Repmgr, pgpool, EFM) and administering multi-terabyte databases is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong aptitude for learning new technologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. A background in building large-scale database infrastructure for high-volume transactions in mission-critical environments is preferred.
