You’ll lead upgrade and remediation efforts across services and dependencies while identifying opportunities to reduce operational overhead through automation and improved monitoring.

Our client's Platform team is responsible for building the core abstractions and infrastructure on which the products can be built and iterated rapidly. We are looking for an operations-focused AWS administrator with deep experience in infrastructure management, system life cycle maintenance, and security best practices within cloud environments.

Scope of work
  • Software & Version Upgrade Management:
Our environment hosts numerous services, runtimes, and dependencies that require ongoing version currency. Contract admins will own end-to-end upgrade planning and execution across our AWS workloads.
  • End-of-Life / End-of-Support (EOL/EOS) Remediation:
Upon approaching EOL/EOS status, contract admins will systematically identify, prioritize, and remediate these instances before they go out of support. This includes operating system versions, managed service engines (e.g., RDS, Elasti Cache), and third‑party libraries.
  • Operational Burden Reduction:
Identifying repetitive operational tasks with suggestions on self‑healing and monitoring improvements.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end planning and execution of software and version upgrades across AWS environments, including services, runtimes, and dependencies.
  • Identify and remediate systems approaching end‑of‑life or end‑of‑support (EOL/EOS), including operating systems, managed services (e.g., RDS, Elasti Cache), and third‑party components.
  • Manage large-scale patching initiatives and perform upgrades with minimal downtime and operational impact.
  • Identify repetitive operational tasks and implement automation, self‑healing mechanisms, and monitoring improvements.
  • Monitor system health and performance using tools such as Datadog and Cloud Watch, driving optimization and reliability.
  • Maintain and improve infrastructure using tools such as AWS SSM, Terraform, Atlantis, and Kubernetes.
Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in AWS administration
  • AWS:
Experience with core AWS services - EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, EKS
  • Patching & Upgrades:
Proven track record of managing large-scale patching programs and performing major version upgrades for OS and middleware with minimal downtime
  • Operational Tooling:
Proficiency with AWS SSM, Terraform, Atlantis, and Kubernetes for configuration management and automation
  • Scripting:
Familiarity with functional scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) that automate operational workflows - focused on system management rather than application development
  • Monitoring & Metrics:
Experience using Datadog, Cloud Watch, or similar tools to monitor system health and drive optimization efforts
Bonus Qualifications
  • Multi Cloud

    Experience:

Experience with Azure, Google Cloud Platform is a bonus
