The Field Clinical Engineer (Clinical Neurotechnology Research Assistant) serves as Paradromics’ trusted technical presence at U.S. clinical sites during early feasibility and first-in-human studies. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Affairs, this field-based role supports safe, reliable use of Paradromics’ implantable BCI system and associated software during surgical procedures, study visits, and neural data collection sessions. This role acts as a critical bridge between clinicians and engineers—ensuring real-world clinical learnings are captured, clearly communicated, and translated into system, process, and risk-management improvements.
The position requires significant travel to clinical sites and the ability to operate independently in high-stakes, patient-facing environments.
- Serve as the in-field technical representative during early feasibility study (EFS) procedures, study visits, and neural recording sessions, working closely with participants, clinical site teams, and Paradromics colleagues.
- Prepare, configure, calibrate, operate, and break down study systems consistently and correctly, completing appropriate system checks and confirming readiness for clinical and recording sessions.
- Support the design, execution, and refinement of neural recording and BCI session workflows to generate high-quality, consistent, and analyzable neural data.
- Monitor neural signals and system performance in real time, recognizing signal loss, artifacts, unexpected behavior, or configuration issues that could affect session quality.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, device, connectivity, and signal-quality issues in real time within clinical environments, applying sound judgment and escalating appropriately when additional support is needed.
