Under the general direction of the web services director, the Web Operations Specialist supports the planning, governance, performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of public-facing and internal web properties. This role combines content strategy, project coordination, vendor and contract oversight, analytics reporting, website content maintenance, and technical administration of DNS, SSL certificates, and domain name renewals. The position works closely with program areas, communications staff, IT teams, procurement, vendors, and leadership to ensure web services are accessible, secure, accurate, user-centered, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Performs related work as assigned.

Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This position is currently working a hybrid telework schedule that reports on-site in Austin, Texas. Telework schedules are subject to change based on agency policy or operational needs.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Experience supporting, managing, or coordinating websites, web platforms, digital services, or content management systems. (25%)
  • Working knowledge of web content strategy, information architecture, content governance, usability, accessibility (W3C, WCAG 2.1), agency brand standards, and search optimization principles. (25%)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and deliverables in a structured and well-documented manner. (20%)
  • Ability to interpret website analytics and translate findings into practical recommendations for content, navigation, performance, and user experience improvements. (20%)
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, reviewing deliverables, tracking contract-related activities, and supporting procurement or renewal processes. (5%)
  • Experience with management and configuration of SSL certificates, CDN, and DNS; domain registration, web hosting coordination, and related operational processes. (5%)
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities

(KSAs)
  • Knowledge of enterprise content management systems (preferably Drupal), web publishing workflows, issue tracking tools, analytics platforms, and accessibility testing and/or quality assurance tools.
  • Skill in applying standards to web content and operational processes.
  • Knowledge of project management methods and tools (preferably Jira).
  • Ability to develop dashboards, recurring performance reports, content inventories, governance documentation, operational procedures, and decision-support materials.
  • Knowledge of web security, privacy, record retention practices, accessibility, and compliance considerations in government or enterprise web services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, documentation discipline, and commitment to security, accessibility, and service reliability.
