Field Staff Auto Appraiser
Open to Denver, Colorado, East Lansing, Michigan, Austin, Texas, and Rhode Island.
Responsibilities- Set appointments the same day, inspect vehicles within 24 hours, and write estimates.
- Write 6 to 10 estimates per day depending on location.
- Ensure proper vehicle teardown.
- Determine repair time allotments and required labor operations.
- Make accurate repair or replace decisions.
- Assess and apply pre‑existing damage, and complete accurate total loss evaluations.
- Negotiate agreed price with shop decision maker and set a time‑bound completion date per client guidelines.
- Review and assess validity of all supplement requests.
- Provide customers with accurate cost‑of‑repair estimates and explain the claims/repair process.
- Negotiate advanced fees for tow, teardown, and storage on vehicles deemed total loss at a repair facility or tow yard.
- Provide extraordinary customer service to all parties involved in the claims process.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or as needed.
- When not in the field, assist the quality assurance team and be available for desk appraisal work.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred (not required).
- Obtain required licenses within 60 days of hire.
- Professional certifications as applicable to line‑of‑business preferred.
- Four (4) years of insurance or body shop experience required.
- Good technical knowledge of auto appraisals.
- Knowledge of client operations and labor regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
- Analytical and interpretive skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to pass state license for appraisal within 30 days of hire.
- Reliable transportation required for travel to assigned work locations.
This is a field appraisal position. The candidate must work independently, manage a local territory, and schedule their own work day.
Pay & BenefitsPay range: $60,000 – $70,000 annually. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other voluntary benefits.
