Auto Field Appraiser- Austin, Tx

Primary Purpose

Handle field appraisal assignments for our corporate fleets and insurance clients with an emphasis on automobiles.

• Set appointments the same day, inspect vehicles within 24 hours, and write estimates for the carsides.
• Write 6 to 10 estimates per day depending on location.
• Ensure proper vehicle tear‑down and determine repair time allotments and required labor operations.
• Make accurate repair/replace decisions and assess pre‑existing damage, completing accurate total‑loss evaluations.
• Negotiate an agreed price with the shop decision maker and set a time‑bound completion date in accordance with client guidelines.
• Review and assess the validity of all supplement requests.
• Provide customers with information regarding their vehicle’s cost of repair estimate and explain the claims/repair process.
• Maintain accurate vehicle cost estimates and explain claims/repair process to customers.
• Negotiate advanced fees for tow, tear‑down, and storage on all vehicles determined to be financially total loss at a repair facility or tow yard.
• Provide extraordinary customer service to all parties involved in the claims process.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management or as needed.
• Assist the quality assurance team and be available for desk appraisal work when not in the field.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred (but not required).
• Licenses as required, and professional certifications applicable to the line of business preferred.
• If required, obtain applicable licensing within 60 days of hire.
• Four (4) years of insurance or body‑shop experience required.

• Good technical knowledge of auto appraisals.
• Knowledge of client operations and labor regulations.

• PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.

• One year of experience in a customer‑facing role.

• Must be able to work independently and manage the local territory.
• Requires scheduling of the work day and handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Physical: computer keyboarding and local travel as required.
• Auditory/visual: hearing, vision, and speaking.

As required by law, a reasonable range of compensation is provided for roles in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency. The range for this role is $55,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on skill set, experience, and location.
