A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Experience working with multilingual communities, immigrant families, or emergent bilingual students is required. Bilingual proficiency is required (English and Spanish is preferred). Three (3) years of experience in family engagement, community outreach, education programs, communications, or community based organizations is preferred. Experience planning large events, facilitating community engagement initiatives, or managing public communications is preferred.

Knowledge of bilingual education and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs is preferred. Incumbents must have a valid Texas driver's license or have the ability to obtain one.

Incumbents must demonstrate strong knowledge of family engagement strategies, community outreach, and culturally responsive practices that support diverse populations. Incumbents must possess strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop messaging and materials for multilingual communities. The position requires strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate district wide initiatives, events, and engagement strategies.

Incumbents must demonstrate the ability to build relationships with families, campus staff, community partners, and district leadership. The position requires the ability to plan, facilitate and lead meetings, workshops, and community events and to communicate effectively with families from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Competence in Google Platform and Microsoft Office preferred.

The Multilingual Family Engagement and Communications Specialist develops and implements a comprehensive district wide strategy to engage and empower families of Emergent Bilingual students enrolled in Dual Language (DL) and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs across grades K-12. The position strengthens partnerships between the Multilingual Department, campuses, and families by expanding access to information, leadership opportunities, and culturally responsive engagement experiences that support student success and biliteracy development.

This position ensures alignment with federal Title III requirements and Texas Education Agency expectations for family engagement for emergent bilingual students. This position supports advisory structures, district events, community partnerships, and communication systems designed to increase family voice and participation in multilingual education programs. The position collaborates with district departments, campus leaders, and community partners to develop systems that increase family access to information about language programs, academic supports, and pathways toward bilingualism and biliteracy.

• Develop and implement a district wide Multilingual Family Engagement and Empowerment Plan that supports families of emergent bilingual students in Dual Language and ESL programs.
• Coordinate the Multilingual Education Advisory Council (MEAC) and other family leadership structures to ensure meaningful family participation in multilingual education program development and district decision making.
• Plan and manage district wide family engagement events and initiatives including but not limited to multilingual family workshops, and other events celebrating bilingualism and student achievement.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness and understanding of Dual Language and ESL program pathways among families and community members.
• Manage the Multilingual Department's external communications including department social media platforms and the multilingual education website to ensure families have access to accurate and accessible information about programs and services.
• Collaborate with district communications staff to develop multilingual communication materials that support outreach to families of emergent bilingual students.
