The Office of Ray Hendren, Standing Chapter 13 Trustee, located in Austin, TX, is accepting resumes for an experienced Staff Attorney / Legal Team Supervisor. This role is ideal for an attorney who values both high-level legal work and meaningful leadership responsibility.
Responsibilities- Represent the Trustee before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of TX, Austin and Waco Divisions, and other courts at confirmation hearings, motions to dismiss, and other matters as required.
- Prepare for and conduct §341 meetings of creditors.
- Review petitions, plans, amendments, motions, proofs of claim, and other pleadings to evaluate compliance with Chapter 13 requirements.
- Draft and file legal documents, including objections to confirmation, motions to dismiss, objections to claims, responses to pleadings, proposed orders, briefs, and withdrawals, exercising sound legal judgment.
- Review cases for eligibility under Chapter 13 and recommend confirmation, dismissal, or conversion.
- Analyze case activity and make recommendations to the Bankruptcy Court.
- Communicate professionally with the Court, debtors, debtor attorneys, creditors, creditor attorneys, and other parties in interest.
- Identify cases requiring specialized treatment, including business cases and cases subject to strict compliance or dismissal.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
- Active member in good standing with the State Bar of TEXAS.
- Admission to the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
- Compliance with State Bar of Texas continuing legal education requirements.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, processes, and competing priorities.
- Excellent judgment, professionalism, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information, ask relevant questions, and apply conclusions effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a leadership team.
Compensation: $110,000 per year
A credit and background check is required.
