Job Summary

Are you looking for career opportunities that provide top‑notch benefits including paid vacation & sick leave, outstanding health & dental insurance, a free health clinic for you & your dependents, a generous retirement plan, and much more? Travis County’s Facilities Management Department offers stable career options with training and tuition reimbursement available to advance your career. In this role you will supervise and coordinate activities of staff engaged in cleaning and maintaining the condition of assigned facilities, inspect them for cleanliness, identify maintenance requirements, and develop training for crew leaders and custodians.

This is a working supervisor position with the incumbent also responsible for the normal range of custodial duties.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the third in a series of custodial‑related job classifications within the Maintenance job family. It functions as the supervisor over several custodial services teams with subordinate crew leaders. Unlike the Custodian Lead, this classification handles the full range of supervisory duties—training, monitoring, evaluating performance, and counseling—as required. The role may involve work in secure facilities, a flexible work schedule, and occasional nights, evenings, or holidays.

  • Perform and participate in the full range of custodial duties along with subordinate staff.
  • Issue supplies, equipment, and keys.

  • Request supplies, materials, and equipment needed for facilities; monitor expenditure of supplies and control inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Perform general cleaning: sweep, mop, dust, scrub, vacuum, empty waste baskets and recycling containers; clean walls, windows, light fixtures, and air supply/return registers.
  • Operate buffer, stripper, waxer, vacuum, and carpet cleaning machines.
  • Secure and lock buildings, set alarms, and ensure lights are turned out in completed spaces.
