Housekeeper / Environmental Services Technician

The housekeeper / environmental services technician maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital by thoroughly cleaning patient rooms, discharge rooms, and public areas. This role supports high-quality patient care by performing a wide range of cleaning and sanitizing tasks in a fast-paced healthcare setting and assisting wherever needed.

• Clean and sanitize discharge rooms, patient rooms, and public areas throughout the hospital in a timely and thorough manner.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Wipe down and disinfect high-touch surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to hospital standards.
• Handle trash removal, including collecting, transporting, and disposing of waste safely and appropriately.
• Manage soiled laundry, including collection and transport, following hospital procedures.
• Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and other cleaning materials as needed.
• Follow established environmental services protocols and infection control procedures at all times.
• Respond to cleaning requests from hospital staff and assist in priority areas as needed.
• Work efficiently to complete assigned cleaning tasks within the scheduled shift.
• Communicate professionally with patients, nurses, doctors, and housekeeping team members while performing duties.
• Safely lift and move equipment, supplies, and carts as required for cleaning tasks.

• At least 6 months of previous housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or environmental services experience.
• Demonstrated strong attendance and work tenure in previous roles.
• Consistent punctuality and reliability, with the ability to work the required hours and rotating weekend shifts.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, nurses, doctors, and team members.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.
• Proficiency in core cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and handling trash and laundry.
• Ability to follow established cleaning procedures and infection control protocols in a healthcare environment.
• Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

• Experience in housekeeping or janitorial work in a hospital, healthcare, hospitality, or similar environment.
• Comfort interacting with a wide range of people, including patients and clinical staff.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assist in different areas of the hospital as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

This role is based in a fast-paced hospital environment, working throughout patient care areas and public spaces. The standard shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with the first few weeks scheduled Monday through Friday and then transitioning to a rotating weekend schedule. Work involves frequent walking, standing, lifting, and pushing carts and equipment while using standard cleaning and sanitizing supplies.
