We are seeking a Senior Project Manager role in Austin, TX.

Project managers are responsible for specific projects within a company. As the project manager, your job is to plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of the specific project you are working on. Project managers might work by themselves or lead a team to get the job done.

The Project Manager position will be part of the Sunset Process Improvement Precision (SPIP) team, supporting a multi-year program aimed at achieving the optimal outcome for Sunset Review. This includes numerous milestones and deliverables that will be presented to executive leadership within the agency and state oversight entities. This position performs advanced analysis and provides direction/guidance on strategic operations and planning under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative.

The Project Manager position oversees requirements gathering, establishing work plans and schedules for some of the SPIP team's initiatives in the following areas:

  • Collaborating seamlessly and smoothly with program areas to support the goals of the SPIP team.
  • Development and publication of project management documents and deliverables in compliance with client Project Delivery Framework directives.

The Project Manager position will involve management of all aspects of the project and will report to the Sunset Program Manager.

High-level responsibilities may include:
  • Working seamlessly and smoothly with various stakeholder areas to ensure that processes, policies, and performance management methods are compliant with state, federal, and other applicable agency standards.
  • Establishing a strategic roadmap for initiatives in coordination with the Executive Steering Committee and all divisions of the client.
  • Establishing a timeline and requirements for the successful execution of the program. Coordination with key stakeholders and sponsors to obtain approval of the Project Charter and deliverables.
  • Creation of project management deliverables necessary for this project.
  • Risk identification and coordination of mitigation and resolution with project leadership.
  • Ensuring constant communication with the Executive Steering Committee and all stakeholders to function as a blended, partnered team.

All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
  • 10 years of Project management experience for large-scale enterprise implementations. PMP Certification is required.
  • Experience with Texas State Audits conducted by SAO, Internal Audit divisions, and Federal entities
  • PMP CERTIFIED (ACTIVE)
  • Project management experience with a Texas State Agency
  • Performs highly complex (senior-level) business analysis work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated successful delivery of projects at a state agency.
  • Progress monitoring to plan through effective use of risk management practices.
  • Leading Analysis, Recommendations, and Implementation of large-scale process improvement projects at a Texas State Agency with a high level of complexity involving multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Expert problem resolution skills. The ability to develop, document, and execute work plans.
  • Tracking full project budget and schedule, risks, scope, and quality using advanced project management software.
  • Experience in building and managing teams with the ability to motivate individuals to excel and exceed expectations.
  • Experience with MS Project, MS Office, Visio, and other status reporting tools.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Texas procurement and contract management.
  • Effectively manage resources in a mixed functional and matrixed project environment.
  • The ability to develop, document, and execute project management plans, work plans, and quality plans.
  • State of Texas Project Delivery Framework.
  • Experience with the Sunset Review process.
