Position: Director of Construction Operations (Austin, TX; Bay Area; ...)

Artistree Home has an immediate opening for an experienced Director of Construction to take ownership of all day‑to‑day construction management across multiple regions. We design and build boutique hotels, residential vacation rentals, and custom tree houses and tiny homes, primarily in CA, TX, and TN. Our company is expanding our portfolio to include prefabricated residential and commercial construction projects across the United States.

The Director of Construction Operations will be pivotal in evolving our regional construction management into one capable of servicing our own regions and out‑of‑region GCs nationwide with robust operational systems. This position will have bottom‑line responsibility, focused on the successful completion of construction projects on all levels from client relations, construction team and sub‑management, to managing project budgets. The Director of Construction’s role ensures every project meets our standards of quality, financial performance, and client experience.

While we are a design‑build operation, at our core, Artistree has a strong mission‑based business creating spaces that bring people outdoors and developing our building science and construction processes to have a low impact on the environment.

You will work directly with the President/CEO and executive team while leading construction across all regions and supporting the integration of ANJO prefab installations. Hands‑on experience in construction management and project management is a must as well as having the requisite skills and experience to solve escalated project and business operations issues. Other experience should support our builds meeting the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and design integrity.

This is a builder‑led leadership role
— you must be equally comfortable on job sites, in client meetings, and in financial reviews.

This senior leadership role is suitable for someone based in one of the company’s headquarters, Bay Area (San Francisco, CA) or Austin, TX.

The Opportunity

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of custom construction project management experience and 10+ years of broader construction leadership, with a proven ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple detail‑rich projects. This role demands strong leadership, organizational skills, fluency with permitting and regulatory processes, and the ability to manage a wide range of teams, including in‑house staff, external contractors, vendors, and clients.

Clear and proactive communication is essential.

Responsibilities

The Director of Construction Operations will be accountable for overseeing client contracts, build team operations, financial performance, and delivery timelines. They will work closely with the President and Founder of Artistree Home and Artistree’s Design Team. The Director will collaborate with the Executive Management Team of Artistree Hospitality Group, PBC, our parent company, including our shared services teams— HR, Finance, Accounting, and Marketing.

Requirements
  • 10+ years project management, 15+ years general construction experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with construction management software (Builder Trend, Procore, or others).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while planning ahead.
  • Detail‑oriented.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Equally comfortable swinging a hammer, managing e‑mail, scheduling, and basic spreadsheet maintenance.
