Essential Functions
  • Lead and manage TSA Austin's full institutional giving portfolio — including foundation grants and government contracts, and corporate partnerships — with a combined FY26 revenue target of $4,500,000, ensuring disciplined pipeline development, compliance excellence, and proactive renewal strategies across all funding streams.
  • Supervise and provide strategic direction to the Grants Manager and Corporate Giving Coordinator, building a high-performing institutional team that operates with clarity of ownership, shared accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive proactive foundation and government grant prospecting — maintaining a rolling grant calendar, pursuing multi-year general operating support, identifying new funding opportunities in Williamson County aligned with Corps expansion, and strengthening outcomes documentation to improve win rates year over year.
  • Own and drive a three-year institutional giving growth strategy targeting $2,000,000 in new revenue above the FY26 baseline — expanding the corporate partner portfolio across Travis and Williamson Counties, diversifying the foundation pipeline, and capturing new government funding opportunities created by the Williamson County Corps elevation. Annual milestones will be established in partnership with the Senior Director and tracked as a core performance expectation of this role.
Supervisory

Responsibilities (25%)
  • Directs the selection, training and supervision of all staff responsible for foundation giving and government grants; instructs and trains employees in the proper methods and procedures for conducting work; monitors work for compliance with established program policies, procedures, standards and regulations; conducts performance evaluations.
  • Administers, leads, plans, and supervises Foundation Giving, and government grants which results in increased donor engagement, programmatic accountability and reaching fundraising goals.
  • Provides strong, effective and highly visible leadership to the Foundation Giving and grants teams in order to capitalize on the full potential of these most critical resources; ensures that all employees are stimulated, motivated and guided to contribute fully to the realization of The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, goals and objectives and empowers employees to identify innovative approaches to enhance organizational performance.
  • Mentor and lead Grants Coordinator, and Grants and Contracts Specialists staff as a priority in order to promote a cohesive and successful team; ensure employee engagement in a focused effort to retain and grow staff.
  • Supervise the expenditure of granted funds and submission of progress and final reports as required by grantors. This includes working with The Salvation Army financial department to ensure appropriate processes are in place for monitoring and tracking planning and development grant related revenues and costs.
Strategic Planning and Evaluation Responsibilities (25%)
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of foundation giving and government grants strategies to achieve short-range and long-range goals; communicates and coordinates with the immediate supervisor or Area Command Officers the status and accomplishments of short and long-range plans, goals and objectives for foundation and government grant activities.
  • Leads a team to implement developed strategies and holds team members accountable for meeting established fundraising goals and metrics.
  • Develops, prepares, and monitors monthly reports illustrating progress against goals to be reviewed with team and shared with immediate supervisor.
