Role Mission
The Facilities Manager (FM) is responsible for operating a clean, safe, sustainable, high-quality facility by leading the custodial team to enhance the learning environment. Facilities Managers exemplify IDEA’s commitment to excellence through successful hiring, development, and retention of custodial staff.
What We OfferCompensation and Benefits:
- Hourly rate ranging between $26.80 for 0 years of experience and $33.50.
- Eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.
- Paid Family Leave: eligible staff may receive up to 8 weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child based on tenure and caregiver designation.
- Tuition Reimbursement: staff may apply for up to 50% of tuition paid toward a qualifying degree program, up to $5,250 maximum per year subject to manager discretion and budget availability.
- Employer-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health: 5 face‑to‑face counseling sessions within a year, unlimited 24/7 telephonic counseling, and other work‑life services available at no cost.

Required
- Education:
HS diploma or GED. - Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in facilities, maintenance, or construction. - Experience:
Minimum of 2 years directly managing or leading a team. - Experience:
Ability and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- License or Certification:
Certifications/Licenses in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing. - Language:
Written and oral bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Campus safe and operational one week before First Day of School (FDOS).
- Achieve an A rating in the Facilities Comprehensive Audit from Beginning of Year (BOY) through the last day of school.
- Complete the Facilities Quick Start checklist for school readiness at the start of the school year.
- 100% of required Safe Schools and Roadmap training completed prior to the deadline.
- All chemicals on hand locked.
- Campus achieves a proficient score of higher than 3 on the Campus Safety Scorecard.
Maintain an efficient operation to meet cost-per-square-foot allocation and kWh usage per square foot.
- Serve as financial steward for campus facilities and maintenance, generating a 10% surplus over budgeted allocation.
- Generate a 5% annual saving in utilities expense through continuous improvement.
- Manage overtime within established targets to keep payroll costs within budget.
- Business‑partner with campus leaders for capital expenditure (Cap Ex) projects.
- Work with APO and Principals to identify facilities needs and develop a plan.
- Provide timely Cap Ex quotations to improve facilities for each school.
Retain custodial staff at 85% rate.
- Increase staff development and training through weekly check‑ins and daily huddles.
- Ensure at least one custodian is groomed to take on the Facilities Manager role within 18 months.
Ensure 80% of facilities requisitions are entered within 3 days of service.
- Work with approved vendors to ensure timely service issuance.
- Maintain budget accuracy by entering requisitions within the goal timeframe.
- Achieve 100% adherence to the IDEA Procurement Policy with zero violations.
Achieve 95% customer satisfaction of maintenance work orders on Zendesk.
- Operate a clean and healthy campus that guarantees an enhanced learning environment.
- Deploy team to efficiently resolve issues submitted.
